The holiday season is both exciting and exhausting, with the whirlwind of activities and commitments. It’s also a little harder to balance taking care of your oral health during this time. Today, our Dr. Backiel and Associates team has some tooth-friendly ideas for you to implement for yourself and your loved ones. Let’s take a look!
Stuffing Stockings: Fill those stockings with sugary delights, if you must, but consider skipping the candy canes and putting in chocolate Santas instead. Why? Hard, sticky candy clings to those pearly whites while chocolate washes off the teeth more easily. To balance out the sweet, include some colorful ADA-Accepted toothbrushes and flavored toothpaste.
Two Minute Music: Brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day is often a challenge. Most people don’t brush long enough to clear out the plaque and oral debris necessary to prevent cavities. One trick is to listen to music for two minutes that will keep you on track. Listen to your favorite holiday tunes and keep your smile in tip-top shape.
Oral Routine: The holidays are traditionally a time to travel, socialize, and party with family, friends, and co-workers. This busier than usual routine often tempts us to slack on our daily oral hygiene. Don’t fall into this trap, as two-three months of holiday fun can take its toll on your smile. Make it a priority to brush twice a day, floss every day, and see your dentist for a cleaning if it is time. Treat your smile as the gift it is!
